The group proposes a new perspective of Brazilian music, bringing to their compositions influences of other South American countries. Result of the union of five Brazilian composers and multi-instrumentalists, Araticum has in its formation: clarinet, flutes and saxophones (Angelo Ursini), accordion, piano (Ricardo Pesce), seven-string guitar, electric guitar, kalimba (Ricardo Barros) acoustic bass and percussion (Vinicius Pereira), vibraphone and percussion (Bruno Duarte). The quintet has a unique sonority, shifting between primitive and contemporary harmonies.
Each member researches the music of certain regions of their continent (Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and, of course, Brazil are examples) and the result is clearly reflected in the compositions comprising the first album Tarde ("Afternoon"). Released in September of 2013, “Tarde “ has compositions of all the group members, in soundscapes that show the strong influence of Latin American music. The arrangements combine the vitality of Brazilian melodies and rhythms to the writing technique of classical music.
